18:15  TNS vs Vikingur Reykjavik (Home Win)

TNS vs Vikingur Reykjavik Predictions

  • The New Saints have won five successive home games in Europe
  • Víkingur Reykjavík has never won an away match in Europe
  • 23 of the last 25 outings at Park Hall Stadium have ended in a T.N.S. victory

Can T.N.S. turn to tie around?

A 2-0 defeat in Iceland last week means T.N.S. have a huge uphill task if they are going to reach the next qualifying round, but the Welsh outfit is exceptionally strong at home.

They have already beaten Linfield 1-0 in a Champions League qualifying match at Park Hall Stadium, while five successive European games there have ended in victory.

Indeed, Anthony Limbrick’s side has only lost one of their last 25 home matches, winning 23 and keeping an impressive 13 clean sheets in the process.

Vikingur in the box seat

A Kristall Ingason brace handed Vikingur the initiative in this tie, but they have never won a two-legged European tie in seven previous attempts.

The Icelandic side is on a run of six defeats and two draws from their previous eight away continental matches, including a 3-2 loss in Sweden to Malmo this summer.

Arnar Gunnlaugsson’s side is more finely tuned than T.N.S., given their season is in full flow, and they are strong on the road, winning eight of the last nine, but this should be a tougher test than those faced domestically.

I predict that The New Saints will win this match, but I think it will be quite tight and I don’t think it will be enough to go through, with 1-0 as my correct score prediction.

20:00 Shkupi vs Dinamo Zagreb (Over 2.5 goals)

Shkupi vs Dinamo Zagreb Predictions

  • Shkupi’s competitive matches this season averaged exactly three goals per game.
  • Four of Zagreb’s last five competitive clashes produced over 3.5 goals.
  • Dinamo Zagreb are unbeaten in seven of their last eight away games.

Can Shkupi’s fairy tale continue?

Although they were priced up at a mammoth 28/1 for the win in the first leg, Shkupi managed an incredible 2-2 draw with Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb in a game that they both led and trailed in. A similarly quick start will be needed this time around if they are to upset the odds, but that could make this a very entertaining clash indeed.

The North Macedonian’s have nothing to lose here, they are well aware of the underdog status and have never qualified for a Champions League group stage, so any positive result will likely see them hailed as heroes.

However, we think that they will need to score at least three goals to make that a reality since they conceded at least twice in all but one game since the start of the season, often against much lesser opposition than this, namely Lincoln Red Imps.

Zagreb cannot afford to underestimate the opposition

While Zagreb no longer hold the home advantage, they are still a ridiculously short price to come up trumps here and after the relative humiliation of the first leg, we believe they will come back with a clear focus this time around.

None, since Hajduk Split back in April, have defeated Zagreb in any game and each of the last four victories within 90 minutes during that sequence produced over 3.5 goals, so we are going for a slightly safer over 2.5 goals pick for the main prediction at a relatively stable price.

As for the correct score, we are backing the visitors to unleash their full potential upon Shkupi this time around with a possible 3-1 away win. Whoever scores first will leave the other desperately chasing, and that can make this an extremely entertaining affair.

Tips # 3

20:00 Shamrock Rovers vs Ludogorets (Under 2.5 goals)

Shamrock Rovers vs Ludogorets Predictions

  • Ludogorets already hold a 3-0 advantage from the first leg.
  • Three of the four games involving these sides in the last round produced under 2.5 goals.
  • One or no side scored in four of Shamrock’s last five competitive games.

A mammoth task for Shamrock Rovers

After being defeated handily by Ludogorets in the first leg back in Bulgaria, Shamrock Rovers enter the second home leg as overwhelming outsiders to overturn the deficit to qualify for the semi-final.

To put it into perspective, Shamrock would have to score at least three goals while keeping a clean sheet if they are to even force extra time in this encounter, something they have not done across their last ten competitive clashes, against domestic opponents of a lower caliber than Ludogorets to boot.

It’s all about game management

Ludogorets head into this one knowing that they simply must not be humiliated and they will move to within two steps of the Champions League group stage. They also won the first leg in the last round and went on to win the away leg 1-0 thereafter, so perhaps attempting to score first and then seeing the game out will be the way this one goes.

None since Levski Sofia back in April have defeated Ludogorets in a competitive game since April and we predict that this streak will continue with a small stake prediction on a 1-0 away win.

As for the main prediction, we are sticking with under 2.5 total goals as Ludogorets simply need to manage the game in order to qualify, any unnecessary risks will likely be avoided this time around.

18:00 Osters IF vs AFC Eskilstuna (BTTS Yes)

Osters IF vs AFC Eskilstuna Predictions

  • Oster has lost one of their last six Superettan matches
  • AFC Eskilstuna have taken one point from their last four away matches
  • Oster are unbeaten in their last four matches against AFC Eskilstuna

Oster will be keen to return to winning ways

Oster has lost one of their last six Superettan matches but has failed to win any of their last four, a run that includes three 1-1 draws. Oster will be disappointed with their points return this month and boss Srdjan Tufegfzic will be keen for his side to return to winning ways on Tuesday. Oster has a good record in this fixture in recent seasons – Oster is unbeaten in their last four matches against Eskilstuna and the hosts are expected to take all the beating on Tuesday.

Eskilstuna has struggled on the road lately

Fourth-placed Eskilstuna has struggled on the road of late, they have taken just one point from their last four away league matches and should they wish to put any pressure on league leaders, Halmstad, their away form must improve. It’s been four years since Eskilstuna last tasted success in this fixture and given their recent efforts on the road, the wait for a victory over Oster may last a little longer.

Eskilstuna’s recent efforts on the road really temper enthusiasm about the visitor’s chances on Tuesday. The main selection for this one will be Oster to Win and Both Teams to Score – both teams have scored in Oster’s last four Superettan matches. The correct score prediction for Tuesday’s game will be for it to finish 2-1 to the hosts.

20:00 England Women vs Sweden Women (Home Win)

England Women vs Sweden Women Predictions

  • England had won nine consecutive games before their extra-time win over Spain in the quarter-finals.
  • The Lionesses have conceded just four goals in 18 games under Sarina Wiegman, and kept four clean sheets in their last five outings.
  • Sweden have won just two of their last eight meetings with teams in the top 10 of FIFA’s world rankings since beating England at the 2019 Women’s World Cup.

In-form England targeting Wembley dream

Georgia Stanway’s extra-time stunner saw England produce a remarkable comeback victory over fellow heavy-hitters Spain in the Euro 2022 quarter-finals, putting Sarina Wiegman’s team just one win away from matching the class of 2009’s feat of reaching a European Championship final. Sweden, Olympic silver medallists last year and ranked second in the world by FIFA, will provide another tough test for the Lionesses, but the hosts should be confident of another huge win in Sheffield.

When including the extra-time triumph over La Roja, England have won 10 consecutive games, while their concession at Brighton’s AMEX Stadium last time out was just their fourth in 18 matches under Sarina Wiegman. Their recent winning run has included four victories over elite opponents in Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Spain, and their extra two days of rest could be huge after their exertions last time out.

Sweden, meanwhile, needed a 92nd-minute winner to beat a stubborn Belgian team last time out, having mustered an incredible 33 attempts on goal as they dominated proceedings in Leigh. Sweden could certainly threaten England’s hopes – and have only lost one of the teams’ seven competitive meetings – but have not been entirely free-flowing this summer. Meanwhile, since beating England at the 2019 World Cup, Sweden have won just two of their eight games against the world’s top 10 sides.

Lionesses can roar into final

Given England’s terrific recent form, the home advantage afforded to them at what should be a raucous Brammall Lane, and their extra two days of preparation, backing them to take another step towards a historic triumph looks prudent.

Meanwhile, Sweden’s struggles to break down Belgium last time out do not bode well for a clash with one of the Women’s games strongest rearguards, and a 1-0 win for the Lionesses looks a strong correct score play.
